Cumulative Update

There’s been quite a lot going on with the Morloks the last few weeks, which I’ll try to cover in one massive update.

First, Dusty actually posted two blog entries recently. Ending his many-month long drought.

Katy I and were back in Minnesota the weekend of August 4th for KTJ (now KTP) and Mike Parish’s wedding. As always, it was great to see everyone. Pictures are available here. I actually took the pictures using Brogan’s camera. That digital SLR is pretty sweet. The wedding was fun but kinda weird. Weird because there were many teachers from my high school there, and it’s a little unnerving to be sitting around with your high school teachers and drinking. What was even more funny was Mrs. Schuweiler going around encouraging us to drink more (because the Parishes were paying).

Following the weekend in Minnesota, we celebrated Dusty’s birthday. Sadly, no pictures were taken, but they wouldn’t have been that good anyway, because one of the prerequisites to his agreement to go out was that we not tell anyone it was his birthday. No embarrassing happy birthday song at the restaurant.

The weekend of the 11th was spent in Michigan at Ben (Hilldore’s) parents house.  Totally amazing trip, I’ve never been on a boat that awesome.  I broke out my old water skiing skillz.  Not bad for not having skiied  for a few years (and probably only about 10 times lifetime total).  I paid the price early last week as my back muscles were incredibly sore.  Guess I don’t use those groups enough.

Following the weekend in Michigan, I took a last minute trip back to Minnesota for some meetings.  Learned some good stuff related to the technology we’re looking at for Morlok Technologies, and I got to see everyone as well.

Finally, last night we celebrated Amanda’s birthday.  Embarrassed her at Dos Reales by making her wear the sombrero grande and have happy birthday sung to her in spanish.  The evening was quite creative, we went out looking to feed some ducks (sadly, it was too late and we didn’t find any) and then went to Laura’s school.  We played on the playground and in the gym, which was quite entertaining.  I won at PIG.  Pictures available here.

I’m not sure what to think about the fact that not only is my blogging news worthy, it’s above the fold material.

  2. Dusty says:

Also, moderated comments blow. Can we get some sort of user authentication thing going here where certain “priviledged users” can insta-comment?

  3. Brogan says:

it looks as though there has been a comment drought… and yes… the url did change.

  4. Dusty says:

    Yeah, I can’t comment.

  5. rmorlok says:

Sorry about that, I have moderation on and don’t check things every day. Spam keeps showing up.

  6. rmorlok says:

Brogan’s comment got right through. I have the “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” option checked to avoid moderation. Mike might have qualified becuase he provided a link (either to a website or an email address) as part of his identification. Dusty, try linking to your blog when you leave a comment, and hopefully once I approve one, all others will just go through.

  7. Dusty says:

Ok then. Here’s the initial one. Also, you can delete my 2nd comment. I just posted it since at first I thought my initial go just hadn’t gone through.

  8. Dusty says:

and now the 2nd one as a test.

  9. Dusty says:

nope, didn’t go through on its own.

  10. rmorlok says:

Yeah, Mike also put in an email. That must be what’s letting things through. You could just use a fake email to avoid spam, as long as you use the same email every time.

  11. Dusty says:

    ok, next initial

  12. rmorlok says:

The email address you enter doesn’t seem to be displayed to the public, so it’s probably ok to use a real address.

  13. Test Person says:

    Test comment.

a slight correction…yes, it is true that you attended the wedding of KTJ and Mike Parish, but you will not have to refer to her as KTP because it was brought to my attention today that she is keeping her last name…so the use of KTJ shall carry on. just thought i’d let you know.

  15. rmorlok says:

    Huh. Any particular reason why?

  16. shoe says:

    What a fruitfull discussion . . .

  17. BPC says:

not really sure why per say but the scenario went as so: she calls me at work yesterday and says, hey it’s KTJ, and I’m like blah blah blah (work stuff) blah blah blah, and a few minutes later I come to the realization she isn’t actually KTJ, so I bring it up…I do the, ohh you mean KTP, and she said nope, I’m keeping Jamieson. I decided I didn’t want to change my name and Mike didn’t’ seem to mind so we are both keeping our names the same. From there the convo went on as normal, I just thought I’d put it out there so you don’t screw it up next time you talk to her. So, now you know. What happens if I get the math question wrong? Do I have to type my whole deal again? Am I blocked? I’m not sure I actually want to try it, I’m just curious. I like the please in there as well, that’s awfully nice of you.

I think if you hit the back button, you can return to your comment. The plugin creator didn’t exactly go overboard on user interface design.
