New Blog

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

In order to keep the number of posts to this blog manageable (read: sarcasm) I’ve launched a new blog related to software development.  That should keep this free of the boring useful information that get’s between the random links I find on Digg.

Schadeweiler 2007

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

A couple weekends ago Katy and I attended our first Schadeweiler camping trip. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the tradition, it’s an annual camping trip put on by my friends from high school (Matt SCHADEr & Brian schuWEILER, get it?). We had a lot of fun. Did some fishing, water sports and cooking out. I was able to get out on water skis for my normal 1 time per year. Some selected pictures from my collection are below, or for near-professional quality, see Marshall’s pictures.

Free Desktop Design Programs

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

While I’m on the topic of posting links to free software, here is a listing of a bunch of free graphics/design program. Everything from Illustrator alternatives to 3D modeling software. I forget if I found this on Digg or Lifehacker a few days ago.

Keep Your Computer Awake

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Found a great little utility today on Lifehacker.  This Mac utility just keeps your computer from going to sleep, dimming the screen, starting the screen saver, etc.  Useful for when your showing pictures or non-full screen movies and such.

This reminds me, lifehacker also had a  link to another mac utility that lets you combine multiple PDFs into one.  Sure you could do this with Adobe bloatware, but if you like avoiding crappy products, then this might be a simple, better alternative.
