Interesting article, when I was running my own company, I was very interested in submitting an RFP for a Dept of Transportation project that wanted to notify people driving of conditions ahead. I know there are such systems out there but I think they wanted something more real time.

I know this does not really correspond with your article as much but when I read your article and the traffic monitoring, that old project came to mind. Utilizing bluetooth and GPS, a very mobile system could be used to communicate between all of the cars on a specific road. Again this comes down to the big brother factor and would people feel safe being used like that. I know I am not comfortable with the fact that I can be found via my cellphone, since its main purpose is for me to stay in touch not me being in touch.
