Since Shanley isn’t keeping up the quote collection, I guess I need to post this. Analogies collected from High School English classes.

Some of my favorites:
Physics is the universe’s operating system. (Steven R Garman)
A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila. (Mitch Radcliffe)
Computers are like bikinis. They save people a lot of guesswork. (Sam Ewing)
Never trust a computer you can’t throw out a window. (Steve Wozniak)
If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside. (”Robert X. Cringely”, Computerworld)
Trip and I were taking a break from work last night, and spent a few minutes enjoying Shanley’s famous (or infamous) quote book and we got to thinking that it’s high time a post-college edition was started. Everyone one who’s with us on this idea, harass Shanley. Together, we can make this happen.
Unfortunately, there are no known plans to revive the quotes website, but in Shanely’s diligent following of the Olympics (or perhaps just Ice Dancing, who I am to judge), he did find this gem.
“Business is just like politics, only without all the democracy getting in the way.”
